ben harper - blessed to be a witness
(one of the more excellent and evocative album covers i’ve seen in a while)
some seriously awesome photography of some gorgeous people in and around johannesburg by nontsikelelo veleko, a local photographer
down in the comments section, some folks were getting a little ignorant.
i personally love the idea. Maddow is not only an excellent pundit with some pretty impressive experience, she’s actually one of those “political elite minds” and can speak with a bit more authority than others because of her doctorate in politics. having someone who could be reasonably labelled an “expert” speak to and question experts could really raise the level of debate, not just on MTP, but, by God, dare i say, in this country’s discussion of political issues.
folks, that’s is not a bad thing. words like “elite” and “intelligent” are GOOD, i promise.

the university of miami hurricanes (i graduated in ‘08) are ranked number 11 (AP) in the country. this season has marked their first consistent stay in the top twenty-five for something like three years.
seeing us rock the hell out of FSU, and then rocking the hell out of Georgia Tech, and then getting beaten at VA Tech but rallying back with a vengeance for Oklahoma made me miss my college days like i had never thought possible. going to the U was one of those helluva-times that, looking back, will never fade in awesomeness. all throughout your life, you’re told by older folks that “college is going to be great.” and you never fully appreciate that until you graduate.
i met some of the most amazing people while i was there. i had some truly stellar and singular experiences, and definitely some less-great times as well. but today, i was just overwhelmed by how much i miss being there.
writing in writeroom reminds me of when i was in middle school. i was really, REALLY into reading fan fiction. ESPECIALLY when it was relating to either of my favorite shows: the x-files, and buffy the vampire slayer. and i was so into the x-files that i got an email address from some weird domain (like name@xfiles.zzn.com or something). that entire website was done entirely in the console colors of green on a black background.
i like it, though. it forces me to pay attention to what i’m typing. there’s not much room for mindless documentation with this sort of excercise.
chester french, wurlitzer interlude
i’m not sure, but i may have just discovered the world’s first musical interlude to feature a bong.
this is hysterical.
notcot is always excellent, but this is a sneak peek into the studio of one of my favorite brands. incase rocks almost every product they put out, and the space reflects that.
i’m so hungry and diplomatic right now.
